Opportunity for Trauma-Informed Training
The last couple of years have been hard for so many of us. And while we are seeing some conditions improve, there is still a lot of hurt, fear, burnout, and frustration being managed day in and day out.
Those of us working in Athletics are wired to serve, especially our student-athletes who seek our guidance and mentorship. In the process of providing support to our student-athletes, work-family and friends, we may find ourselves with an emotionally “empty gas tank.” This emotional fatigue could leave those we supervise feeling undervalued, unheard, or unseen. It is important to address this trauma that we have experienced and learn ways to work together as we move forward to a place of shared wellbeing.
LSU Student Mental Health is offering an important training opportunity to learn how trauma can impact our workplace and teams and learn ways to interact and respond with empathy and support.
