Is Your Place a Safe Space?
LSU’s LGBTQ+ Project is relaunching its Safe Space Training and LSU Athletics is encouraging participation and support in our community partners!
The LGBTQ+ Project aims to identify and educate people who will affirm and support people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions, etc. with the goal to increase allyship.
In the training you will learn some basic LGBTQ+ terminology and ways to make your language more inclusive, summarize key milestones in LGBTQ+ history, explain key concepts related to sex and gender as they relate to LGBTQ+ identities, and share information about campus and community services and resources.
There are two tracks for the training:
Track One: participants will take part in an online Moodle training course. The Moodle course is designed to be an introductory training that is completed independently within three weeks. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate.
Track Two: participants will complete the online Moodle training course and will then enroll in a 3-hour in-person training. Those who complete the in-person training will be eligible to become Safe Space certified and will receive a Safe Space sticker that can be displayed.
