Core Value Highlight on INTEGRITY
October was about embodying integrity, which means we meet our commitments and take ownership when we cannot. Each month, we will share thoughts from people within our department about each core value.
What does embodying integrity mean to you?
“Someone who has a strong sense of right and wrong and picks right even if it negatively impacts them personally.” ~Katie O’Brien
“Embodying integrity means applying this to all facets of your life. We must consistently express and share signs of honesty and positive moral principles in our personal and professional lives.” ~Gordon Thomas
“Doing what you say you will do and doing what is right even when no one is watching!” ~Leighann Westfall
As a department, how successful are we at embodying integrity?
“We make deliberate decisions and act in consistent alignment with our values to keep us whole.” ~Jamie Hall
“As a department I believe we are doing a solid job of embodying integrity. This core value starts at the individual. When you have a staff who are honest and undivided throughout the organization then as a whole we embody the core value as well.” ~Gordon Thomas
“We are improving but we have work to do.” ~Cody Worsham
As a department, where can we improve to ensure we are embodying integrity?
“Probably just making sure that we not only have systems in place, but that they are being executed as well.” ~Keonte’ Herrera
“As department we should emphasize this to our student-athletes. Integrity is directly correlated to character. People who exhibit high levels of integrity are also high character people. I do not need to know everything about someone but if I know their values of integrity are great that adds instant confirmation of who they are at home and at work.” ~Gordon Thomas
“Accountability. Leaders holding their teams accountable, but teams holding leaders accountable. Both should have high standards for each other and communicate expectations.” ~Cody Worsham
“Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fun, fast, or easy; and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them.” ~Brene Brown: contributed by Jamie Hall & Cody Worsham
“I give everything I got to everything I’m apart of simply because that’s my essence and that’s who I am.” ~Inky Johnson: contributed by Keonte’ Herrera
“Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is watching.” ~C.S. Lewis: contributed by Katie O’Brien
“The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office”. ~Dwight D. Eisenhower: contributed by Gordon Thomas
